This trip was actually a top bucket list item for Judy and me.  Judy had wanted to go to Egypt more than anything else for the past 50 years.  The highlight of the trip for her was going to The Valley of the Kings and Queens and going into the tomb of King Tut. Seeing him was a very emotional experience for her.  Other key highlights in Egypt included seeing all the pyramids, and taking a camel ride past the Great Pyramid all the way to The Great Sphinx of Giza.  We also took a cruise down the Nile, seeing the Aswan Dam, sailing on the Nile in a Felucca where we almost capsized, and going to Abu Simbel to see the rock-cut Temple of Rameses II on the West Bank of the Nile.  Many other famous sites and Temples were visited as well.  We then flew to Israel and spent the majority of time in Jerusalem.  We went to the famed Temple Mount and Dome of the Rock.  But for me, going to The Western (Wailing) Wall was an experience I will never forget since it is so closely associated with my religious heritage. But being in Jerusalem gave us a chance to visit The Church of the Holy Sepulcher where Jesus was crucified and see his empty tomb where he was said to have been buried and resurrected.  We also visited Bethlehem where our Israeli guide could not travel as we visited the Church of the Nativity which is traditionally considered to be located over the cave that marks the birthplace of Jesus of Nazareth.  Other highlights included visiting Yad Vashem, a memorial built to commemorate victims of the Holocaust, seeing pieces of The Dead Sea Scrolls, floating in the Dead Sea, and going to Masada which is the site of King Herod’s desert mountain get-away palace and site of the zealots’ last stand against the Roman Legion.

"Unfortunately, I am still out pounding the pavement, working for Cargill Dow….a company that makes plastic from corn.  Tell your friends, we need the business!! Judy is still working and continues to find ways to more than support our economy by spending money at all the top retailers in the Chicago area.  Our son Michael is engaged and lives near Wrigley Field and is a copywriter in the field of advertising. I spend as much time as I can playing golf while Judy frequents all the shopping malls she can."
